Many people find that their personal relationship are tested or challenged during a No 2 year. This year carries the theme of “partnership”, but you will have to strive to maintain emotional balance and be willing to give and take. 2Ī personal number Two year has an underlying theme of “A spiritual growth of sharing and co-operation with others”. In Personal Year 1 take special care of your head and sense organs, which are more vulnerable and susceptible to illness this year. You have all predispositions for successful and long standing relationship. Number one year is favorable for all new beginnings, so it is good to fall in love in this period. Keep pushing ahead and do what you intuition tells you is right. Don’t let anyone talk you out of your plans. Look for those new opportunities and consider your possibilities and pursue something totally new which will bear fruit over the next few years. It is also a good year to make a career change or start a new course of study. Be your own Knight in Shining Armor and charge off into the sunset saying “It is all positive and I am an original and confident person.” This is your year to put fear aside and look to the future with courage. If you prepare yourself and are ready for the opportunities that will come up in each year then you stand to benefit greatly.Ī personal number One year has an underlying theme of “New Beginnings.” Therefore your resolution for this year needs to be “I am willing to change” even if by nature change is not your middle name. “The one thing she does remember is her husband,” he said.Your Personal Year number is a strong indication of the trends and circumstances you will experience during the year ahead. The 20-year-old Inoa said speaking at the ceremony was “very nerve-racking”, but he did it for his grandmother, who has Alzheimer’s disease. Jason Inoa commemorated his grandfather, Jorge Velázquez. “Though we never met, I am honored to carry your name and legacy with me,” said Manuel João DaMota Jr, who was born after his father and namesake died. And many shared personal reflections on missing loved ones. One acknowledged the many lives lost in the post-9/11 “war on terror”. One lauded the Navy Seals who killed the al-Qaida leader and 9/11 plotter Osama bin Laden in Pakistan in 2011. Along the way, he landed steadier gigs in The Bernie Mac Show, Jake in Progress, and Samantha Who? On the small screen, he also enjoyed one-offs roles in shows ranging from American Dad! and Chuck to CSI: NY and NCIS. Before Suits, the actor mostly had small parts in movies like Lethal Weapon 4 (1998), The Day After Tomorrow (2004), and Hostel (2005). We doubt that Hoffman had any real axes to grind with the show, however, as it supplied his biggest role yet. Such is true about Rick Hoffman's Louis Litt, a supervising attorney at the law firm with more than a few axes to grind against Specter. Case in point: While we follow the misadventures of Harvey Specter's somewhat maverick lawyer, it was inevitable that others at Pearson Hardman would resent his antics. One of Suits' many strengths was how it managed to capture the petty dynamics at the heart of any workplace. They welcomed a daughter, Satine, in 2007 and a son, Luca, in 2014. In 2004, Macht married Australian actress Jacinda Barrett. The actor hasn't appeared in any projects since. He also appeared in many eclectic films, such as Behind Enemy Lines (2001), A Love Song for Bobby Long (2004), The Good Shepherd (2006), as the title character in The Spirit (2008), and Love & Other Drugs (2010).Īfter sticking with Suits through all nine seasons, Macht reprised the role of Harvey Specter in one episode of the short-lived spinoff series Pearson in 2019. Specter is also known for working legal miracles, though whether that's more due to his charm or chicanery is impossible to tell.Ĭoming into Suits, Macht had quite a bit of acting experience thanks to one-off roles in shows like Beverly Hills, 90210, Spin City, and Sex and the City. The other lead at the heart of Suits is Gabriel Macht's Harvey Specter, a risk-taking lawyer who hires Michael Ross to be his assistant attorney despite the young man's lack of a legal degree. They welcomed a daughter, Aurora, in 2018 and a son, Elliot, in 2021. In 2016, Adams married actress Troian Bellisario. Most recently, he starred in the film He Went That Way (2023) opposite Zachary Quinto and Jacob Elordi, and currently voice acts in the podcast America 2.0 (reprising his role in the 2018 miniseries of the same name). He's since worked on television shows like Disney+'s The Right Stuff and Amazon Prime's adaption of A League of Their Own. As for film, he also notably starred in the sci-fi drama Clara (2018).Īdams left Suits at the end of season 7 along with Markle, though he did return for the final episode. After Suits began in 2011, Adams landed slightly bigger parts in genre shows such as Orphan Black and DC's Legends of Tomorrow, as well as the crime series Sneaky Pete. In many ways, this "leap before you look" character is in line with Adams, who admitted that he didn't realize how big or complex Suits would become.īefore starring in the legal drama, Adams had minor roles in films like Old School (2003 and Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007), along with TV shows like NCIS, Friday Night Lights, and Pretty Little Liars. Adams played Michael Ross, who is not a lawyer despite passing the bar exam on multiple occasions, but that didn't stop him from landing a job at Pearson Hardman. Though it's unlikely she'll revive her acting career, Markle did return to the screen in 2022 through the Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan. She continued to be a series regular until departing in season 7.Īfter Markle and Prince Harry stepped back from working royal duties in 2020, the couple started the non-profit organization Archewell and moved to Markle's native California with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Following the success of Suits, she appeared in an episode of Castle and headlined the Hallmark movie Dater's Handbook (2016). Somewhat infamously, she was even a "suitcase girl" on the Howie Mandel game show Deal or No Deal. The series was the high point of her showbiz career, wherein she played Rachel Zane, a motivated paralegal trying to make a name for herself.īefore that breakout role, Markle had mostly small parts in movies like A Lot Like Love (2005), Remember Me (2010), and Horrible Bosses (2011), along with television shows like CSI: NY and the 90210 reboot. Adams, Gina Torres, Abigail Spencer and Jacinda Barrett). (She made sure to invite many of her Suits castmates to the royal wedding, including Sarah Rafferty, Rick Hoffman, Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. It's fair to say that Meghan Markle is the most famous cast member of Suits after marrying Prince Harry and becoming the Duchess of Sussex in 2018, marking her retirement from acting.
Some folks don't want to code in an integrated development environment using the same language as the developers. If your team is made up mainly of Java coders, I highly recommend REST-Assured for API testing. This is one more reason to use REST-Assured, since it brings the simplicity of using those languages into the Java domain. Testing and validating REST services is harder in Java than it is in dynamic languages such as Ruby and Groovy. It also has a bunch of baked-in functionalities, which means you don't have to code things from scratch.īonus: If you're like me and use the Serenity automation framework, you will like that REST-Assured integrates seamlessly with it, which means you can combine your UI and REST tests all in one framework that generates awesome reports. It provides a behavior-driven development (BDD)-like, domain-specific language that makes creating API testing in Java simple. The REST-Assured API was created so that you don't necessarily need to be an HTTP expert. It's designed with testing in mind, and it integrates with any existing Java-based automation framework. REST-Assured is a fluent Java library you can use to test HTTP-based REST services. In fact, it's the main tool I use for API testing. When using Java, REST-Assured is my first choice for API automation. The following are the top 11 API testing tools that can help you on your journey, with descriptions that should guide you in choosing the best fit for your needs. Knowing the basics of API testing will help you, both now and in an AI-driven API future. I've not seen this functionality available in any open-source API tools as yet, but don't let that prevent you from getting started. These tools act like sniffers, using machine learning to automatically find patterns and connect relationships among different services as users interact with the applications.Īs these approaches become more refined, you can imagine how the complexity of API test generation will be significantly reduced. To reduce the complexity of API testing, some vendors have created utilities that leverage AI to convert manual UI tests into API tests. Testers also may be technically unaware of how to even get started testing an API, so they simply focus on what they know-which is UI automation. Testers believe developers should be doing API testing, while developers believe the opposite. It still hasn't taken off, though, for several reasons.įor one, even though many organizations claim to be agile, many still have distinct roles defined for developers and testers. Thinking that API testing was about to take off, I wrote a book about it back in 2014. With microservices making up the backbone of most newer development efforts, API testing becomes even more critical than before. Focusing solely on UI automation-which is notoriously slow-can kill your test automation efforts.Īs you scramble to ensure that your applications are ready to ship, API testing should be part of your overall automation strategy.ĪPIs are the basis of modern software development, especially as more and more teams move away from monolithic applications and begin adopting a microservices approach to software development. Why perform API testing?Īs more companies make the shift left toward DevOps, continuous integration (CI), and continuous deployment (CD), test feedback needs to be quicker than ever. While most vendors are talking up the benefits of AI- and UI-based testing tools in general, AI- and machine learning-based applications that help with API testing have arrived.īefore you begin API testing, however, make sure you understand test automation basics and know how to avoid the most common test automation mistakes. How do you find the right open-source API testing tool for your needs? Since my last roundup of the best candidates, a few more tools have appeared that warrant consideration-and there's a new technique that's all the buzz in AI automation circles that you need to know about. If you do, you’re not alone. This arbitrary "it's the sun because I said so" stuff is pretty much thrown out the window when it comes to onomatopoeia, and even mimetic words. Someone, someday decided that the sun in the sky would be called the "sun." But not every person or every language wanted to call it that, and not everyone thinks "sun" when they look up at that bright thing in the sky (Please don't look directly at it!). 煌煌 ( こうこう ) bright and shining \ Sound Representation 潺潺 ( せんせん ) the sound of a clear, shallow mountain stream 齷齪 ( あくせく ) anxious, feeling like you don't have enough time Some onomatopoeia have kanji, and even though you'll probably never see it used, it does exist. You'll see lots of back and forth in which one is used the more you read, which is just another reason why learning both hiragana and katakana is really important.įor the purposes of this guide, and consistency, I'll be providing all of the examples in hiragana. While there are no definitive rules saying when you should use one or the other, in Jazz Up Your Japanese with Onomatopoeia, the author states that hiragana is used for "soft sounds" and katakana is used for "hard sounds" and emphasis. Onomatopoeia are written using either hiragana or katakana. Strong, continuous, and cold wintry winds Basically, any sound you hear that isn't coming out of the mouth of a person or animal falls under this category. These are sounds that humans and animals make. Let's take a look at each of these groups of words. These mimetic words don't really exist in English, which makes mastering them difficult when learning Japanese. The way you feel, the way you walk, and even your skin has an onomatopoeia to describe it. They describe or represent something that has no sound. The last three describe what's called mimetic words, or ideophones. Giseigo and giongo are just like onomatopoeia we have in English. If you know your kanji, the differences between them should be pretty easy to recognize if you do see them in the wild. Giyougo 擬容語 Describe movements and motions.Gitaigo 擬態語 Describe conditions and states.Giongo 擬音語 Actual sounds made by inanimate objects and nature. Here are 5 categories they can be broken up into: There are thousands of onomatopoeia in Japanese. Lazily roll out of bed, gobble down some food, and sleep soundly. But there comes a time when you have to put down that textbook Japanese and throw in some flare. If you're past the beginner stages of learning Japanese you've probably used 起 ( お )きる (to wake up), 食 ( た )べる (to eat), and 寝 ( ね )る (to sleep) more times than you can count. And not just in the ways we hear and see them in English as well as most Western European languages. In Japanese, a language that many people have so inaccurately called "vague" in the past, onomatopoeia are there to fill that void. It's like adding color, flavor, or texture to what you're saying. We add them to our spoken and written language to add something more substantial, more visceral. In English, they're words like pop, meow, crackle, and whoosh. What are onomatopoeia? In their simplest form, onomatopoeia are words that represent sounds. I have put it through the wringer with Pardilla family brunches, where pancake-like stacks of toast are passed around. Plus, the KitchenAid lets out an assertive beep when toast is ready - so I never have to chew through cold toast because I couldn’t hear a ding. The high-lift lever also means I’m able to delicately take toast from the top without having to play the saddest game of hot potato. First are the extra-wide slots, which have let me easily toast slices from thicker loaves. There are two features that really make the design stand out from all the other toasters I tested. I prefer a 2, which produces the perfect sundown shade I talked about above, whether I’ve put in a slice of an already brown multigrain from the bag or a hand-cut chunk of ciabatta. It’s got five browning settings, each of which is distinct 1 gives you a barely there blond, while 5 gets you to scorched territory. I use it at least three times a week and sometimes twice a day when I really don’t feel like cooking. It has popped out perfectly golden toast from the first time I pushed down the lever. I have had this KitchenAid toaster for almost a year now - it’s the one I depend on most. Slots: Extra-wide for four slices (or a two-slice version) | Settings: Five (plus bagel and cancel) | Size: 11.4” x 7.7” x 7.7” | Extras: High-lift lever I tested (and will continue to test) a number of the models below - though I’ve lost track of how much toast I’ve eaten in the process. So I talked to fellow toast-heads to make sense of the market. (A delightful fact: The first toaster was actually invented before sliced bread in a real chicken-or-the-egg kind of scenario). There are simple, industrial models (your KitchenAids and your Cuisinarts), retro-inspired styles ( Smeg, obviously), and even avant-garde options, like an Italian-designed Alessi covered in plissé pleats. (Besides, I don’t like the sogginess that sometimes happens with a pan.) And the toasterscape is chock-full of choices, which makes it harder to know what to buy. Sure, you could make toast with a butter, pan, and some patience (as some of the folks I spoke to do), but I’m still on the side of those who consider a toaster a useful appliance to own. For one thing, it should produce a hot and crispy slice quickly - and I mean that - with a little “ding” to let you know your toast is done. So that’s made me slightly obsessive about what makes for the right toaster. Usually, I like my toast to be ombré like a sunset, with a lemon-colored center and amber edges. I’m a self-professed toast snob, with strong opinions on things like what a crunch should sound like. |
